Economic structure
The primary sector
- Although 52% of the Thérèse-De Blainville territory is designated for agricultural use, the primary sector represents a mere 1.2% of the jobs and 1.8% of the companies located there.
- This area of activity is dominated mainly by horticultural or cereal crops as well as livestock farms for dairy, poultry and cattle production.
- These operations are concentrated mainly in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, where 8,757 hectares of land are zoned agricultural. In fact, Fraisebec, Canada's largest producer of strawberries, is located in this town.
The Secondary sector

This sector encompasses slightly more than a quarter of the jobs on the territory of the RCM.
- The manufacturing industry
In the early 1960s, the RCM had only 24 manufacturing companies and 934 jobs in that industry. Today, because of RCM towns' ongoing investments in the development of industrial parks and the growing number of companies settling there, Thérèse-De Blainville ranks among the most dynamic territories in Quebec. It is currently home to 301 manufacturing companies providing employment to some 9,291 persons.
- It has companies in every manufacturing sector, and 9 of 21 sectors have companies with more than 100 employees - a sign of outstanding diversity.
- 47 companies have more than 50 employees while 19 have more than 100.
- The largest sector in terms of employment is food processing with 1,902 workers.

Transportation equipment and electric and electronic products also account for a significant number of employees, i.e., over 900. The wood and wood product industry follows closely, employing 826 persons.
- The metal product manufacturing industry tops the list in terms of the number of companies: 48. Wood processing and wood product manufacturing, electrical and electronic products, the production of furniture, and food and food products are also active sectors in this area.

The tertiary sector
- The number of tertiary sector companies in the RCM exceeds 4,000. They provide employment to 30,000 workers, or 72% of the territory's jobs.
- Production and government jobs (1,500 organizations) employ some 19,000 persons. With regards to jobs, teaching services represent the lion's share, with more than 4,100.
- The commercial sector is not far behind, with some 1,400 establishments and 11,500 jobs.
- The commercial landscape has experienced unparalleled activity in recent years. The region has seen the arrival of a large number of restaurants, furniture and decorating accessories stores, car dealerships and a variety of boutiques, which have considerably enhanced the commercial offering and, in the process, met increasing needs fuelled by Thérèse-De Blainville's demographic growth.
